It is vital to make sure that you are doing everything you can in order to keep your central air conditioning unit it tip top shape so your house will remain nice and cool. This means you will want to notice signs of trouble and understand why it might be happening. When you have that information, you will be able to get it repaired a lot easier, whether you do it yourself with the right air conditioning parts or you hire a technician to do it for you. Here are some of the reasons your air conditioning unit might be having trouble:

Ice Has Formed On The Coils

This is a common problem that a lot of people will experience and it will cause their air conditioner to no longer work as well. A good thing about this type of issue is that it is very easy to resolve and you do not even need any new parts to do it. After discovering that there is ice forming on the coils, turn the unit on and select the fan option. Allow the fan to run for a couple of hours, as that will give plenty of time for the ice to melt. Once the ice is gone, you can turn the unit back on to the cooling option.

The Condensation Drain Is Clogged

This drain needs to function well in order to properly remove all of the condensation that builds up over time within the air conditioning unit. However, the drain line can clog from a variety of things, such as debris brought into it by little rodents or a build up of algae. You could try to clean out the drain pipe, but it is usually a lot easier to simply replace it with a brand new one.

The Compressor No Longer Works

If your air conditioner is no longer sending cool air into your home, the compressor is one of the parts you may need to replace. You can usually hear if it is not working properly when you adjust the desired temperature on the thermostat to something lower than the current temperature inside of the home. You should almost immediately hear the compressor kick on and if you were to look into the top of the unit, you would be able to see that the fan within it is actively moving. If the fan has not started to move and you do not hear anything, it may be time to have an HVAC specialist, such as from All Appliance Parts of Sarasota, replace the compressor.
